- Jackpot
- Term assigned various meanings in the gambling context. In a lottery it means the major prize. In horse racing it means the daily tote bet in which the punter must name the first six winners on a nominated race card.
- Jockey
- A rider in horse races esp. a professional
- Jockey Club
- Organisation responsible for the regulatation of horseracing.
- Jockey's Agent
- A person who negotiates ridng fees etc. on behalf of jockeys for a commission
- Joint
- Bookmaking slang for a bookmakers pitch in the betting ring
- Joint favorite
- In a situation where two horses are regarded with equal favor by the bookies (i.e. they are believed to have the same chance of wining).
- Jolly
- Bookmaking slang for a race favourite "Jolly old favourite"
- Journeyman
- Seasoned professional jockey
- Judge
- Racecourse official responsible for declaring the finishing order of a race and the distances between the runners
- Juice
- The bookmaker's commission on a losing bet, also known as "vigorish."
