Relentless Probets move further ahead

2022-03-31

Probets emphatic start to 2022 showed no signs of relenting in March. For the third consecutive month, Steve Jones’ service topped the listing, this time with a yield of 14.1 points, the best monthly return for any Besttipping service since August 2021.

Jones’ other service, Daily Bargain, returned to form in March with a 7.5-point profit. Personal Info Saturday-Only made it seven winning Saturdays in succession, while Personal Info’s Mainline service also finished the month in credit.

Eleven of Probets 29 tips were successful (38% strike-rate) in March with Wise Eagle (4/1, Newcastle, 3 March) setting the train in motion. Arousing (7/2, Kempton Park, 9 March) was the best priced punt in a four-win sequence between 8 and 11 March, while National Hunt Chase victor Stattler (11/4, 15 March) added to the profits on the opening day of the Cheltenham festival.

During the period between 21 and 26 March, the month’s profits more than doubled thanks to the victories of I See You Well (4/1, Plumpton, 21 March), Just The Man (11/2, Ludlow, 23 March), Ashington (7/2, Sedgefield, 24 March) and Bandinelli (9/4, Kempton Park, 26 March).

The return of 14.1 points was Probets best monthly yield since May 2019, when a figure of 26.3 points was secured.

After four straight losing months, Daily Bargain was in need of a change of fortune. A positive return of 7.5 points satisfied that need, although it meant further ground was lost to stable-mate Probets in the overall 2022 challenge. After three months action, Daily Bargain trail Probets by 46.5 points: Probets have 38.5 points, while Daily Bargain have a negative return of 8 points.

There were glimpses of the old Daily Bargain, particularly during a magical three-day spell mid-month. Diol Ker’s victory in the Leinster National at Naas on 13 March was followed by Forge Valley Lad at Wolverhampton and Corach Rambler in the meg-competitive Ultima Handicap Chase on the opening day of Cheltenham’s festivities. The three winners were advised at 13/2, 8/1 and 12/1 respectively – an 876/1 treble.

Daily Bargain’s March prices averaged almost 9/1, so a lowly strike-rate of 13% could still generate a more than satisfactory monthly pay-out.

It’s rare for a tipster to go through a month without a losing bet, but Personal Info Saturday-Only have now achieved this feat in two consecutive months. March’s four from four followed a three from three return in February.

Last month’s winners were: Black Poppy (13/8, Newbury, 5 March), 10/11 Seven Pockets, who dead heated at Kempton Park (12 March), Broken Halo (1/2, Fontwell Park, 19 March) and Groundbreaker (5/4, Doncaster, 26 March).

The return on investment (ROI) for the two-month period is over 57%. Bear in mind, investors consider an annual 10% ROI as a good return, anything more is seen as a bonus.

Personal Info was also ahead with its Mainline service. That makes it 12 winning months since the start of 2021 (15 months). Along with the four winners listed above, Personal Info also scored with the impressive Supreme Hurdle winner Constitution Hill (5/2, Cheltenham, 15 March).  Minella Cocooner (9/1) finished second in the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle (18 March), which secured yet another profitable Cheltenham for this ever-reliable service.
