David Lyons Blue Sky Racing (D) | Analysis and Proofing by Besttipping
My name is David Lyons and I have worked in the horseracing industry since I joined Martin Pipe’s set up in 1984. After a year I moved on to spend a further 12 months at Guy Harwood’s where I saw the difference between training tough NH types as opposed to the relatively lighter framed Flat horses. In 1985 I got my first Journalist position with the Racing & Football Outlook. After which I was a writer and tipster until 2002 for many publications, including The Sporting Life, The Times and The Western Morning News. I was also a jockeys’ agent for 6 jockeys from 1987-1992. Somebody once said information is power and in the racing industry having an edge from the inside has been a great help to me over the years. I once tipped a 16/1 winner in a five runner race at Newton Abbot which hadn’t run for 1145 days. And in my Southern Column for The Sporting Life Weekender I tipped Salsabil for the next season’s Oaks at 66/1 before she had even run.
That is the past. Now my work is dedicated to my tipping business www.blueskyracing.co.uk which I launched on 1st July 2006, since when I have made clients a profit 5 years out of 6 and 492 points profit at a ROI of 42%. All my current and archived results are on my website. My ethos is to ‘look for a horse who can win the race, and find that sort of horse with value’. Value can be 4/6 or value can be 25/1. Don’t forget the odds compiler has the same modern statistical information as we have, and probably some insider contacts, but he doesn’t ‘know’ what is going to win the race. Yes in an 8 horse race 7 are running for him and 1 for you but if you have done your homework correctly you should have half the field beaten on stats alone. By that I mean, trainer form, jockey form, draw (most important on certain courses) and ground.
