PJA Flat no one-hit wonder
Since the start of the 2011 Flat season back in March, PJA Flat have dominated the Besttipping Tipster Challenge. For the fourth month in a row, they collected more points than any of their rivals, and now sit proudly at the top of the 2011 table with a massive 148.6 point profit, more than 66 points clear of nearest rival PJA All Weather.
This month’s profit was 41.2 points, the result of steady profit-making. The high point came with Toby Tyler’s York victory on 22 July. The Paul Midgley-trained five-year-old, a 14/1 advice, stormed home two and a half lengths clear of Hotham, despite swerving left on the run-in.
One Hit Wonder (10/1) gave PJA Flat a big win at Newbury on 8 July, while Hits Only Jude, prevailed at the same odds at Hamilton twenty-four hours later. Other eye catching advices this month included: Green Destiny (9/1, York, 9 July), Persian Peril (8/1, Ayr, 18 July), Hip Hip Hooray (15/2, Windsor 27 June), Drive Home (7/1, Ayr, 11 July), Money, Money, Money (7/1, Lingfield, 13 July) and Tevez (13/2, Leicester, 2 July).
July was also a memorable month for Bookies Enemy. Up to 23rd, their four-week profit stood at 25.6 points. This included a spell of four winners from five tips (5-11 July) and three wins from four (17-19 July). On the 19 July, Bookies Enemy missed out on a bumper payout when two out of the three selections in a win trixie bet won and the third selection was beaten into second. Nevertheless, the bet added handsomely to the kitty.
PJA All Weather again posted a solid effort, which yielded 16.7 points over four weeks. Loyalty, an 8/1 advice at Kempton (29 June), Kielty’s Folly (8/1, Wolverhampton, 11 July) and This Ones For Eddy (7/1, Southwell, 12 July) all helped to swell the coffers. Incidentally, the last seven tips all finished in the first three, and as bets are advised win and each way, all produced a return.
The love affair between Worcester and PJA National Hunt continued this month. Remember Occasionally Yours, advised at 8/1 prior to winning at the Pitchcroft course last month? Well, this time it was the turn of Kiama (11/1, 29 June), Diamond MM (8/1, 13 July) and Tegan Lee (11/2, 20 July).
Thanks to the Ascot victories of Sovereign Debt (3/1) and Dick Turpin (4/1) on 9 July and the Newbury success of Deacon Blues (3/1) the following week, Gamblers Reunited enjoyed a 50% strike rate over the period under review.
With six winners ranging in price from 7/4 to 5/1, Steve Jones’ CD Systems also posted a profit this month. Richard Dunwoody has also been among the winners of late. Harbour Bridge, a successful selection at Newmarket on 7 July was Dunwoody’s eighth winner from 14 tips.
The next few weeks racing includes Glorious Goodwood and York’s Ebor Meeting, as well as the unique experience that is the Galway Festival, which this year extends to a stamina-sapping 53 races. Will PJA Flat continue their impressive domination or will the big August meetings bring about a change in the pecking order?

Great Graphs and Functionality Sign up for free to Besttipping.
Besttipping receive selections from all the tipsters well before the start time of the event. These selections (the same ones they are sending out to their regular subscribers) are later settled against the day's results and entered into the Besttipping database. The result is that we are able to display a complete and accurate (and above all, independently verifiable!) record of how each service is performing over a period of time.
Many tipsters claim impressive track records and in some cases, these results are undoubtedly true. Claims though, are very easy to make and without proper policing and easily understandable analysis it is difficult for the potential customer to subscribe with any real confidence. Besttipping is the only 'Professional' service and is unique in that it offers for free the chance for you to:
- View results graphically
- View results by level flat stake (£10, £50 or £100 you decide)
- View results by points (if the tipster uses this system)
- View total win value and percentage of winners
- View results over different periods e.g. 30 days, 90 days, year to date
- Monitors laying as well as backing services
The importance of long-term subscriptions.
Looking back over the performances of our tipsters since we started collecting data in October 2005, what strikes me most is the incredible consistency shown by the top performers. Not only are the same names who were at the top of our tables in December still at the top, but the amount of profit shown to their clients has increased steadily.
This is not to say though that they will never have negative weeks or even months. In fact they ALL have, and will no doubt have more in the future. The important thing to appreciate when deciding to subscribe to a service is that it has to be a long term investment to be worthwhile. It is true that you may subscribe for a month and be lucky enough to show a huge return, but the consistent and reliable returns are shown over time.
Besttipping is there to identify how tipsters have performed in the past so that you can gauge how they might perform in the future. Having chosen the service you feel offers the best long term value, make a long term commitment and decide on a stake amount which does not overstretch you during the losing periods, while at the same time makes the subscription fee worthwhile.
Best of Luck!!
Besttipping is independently audited by a firm of accountants, to ensure our data is 100% accurate. Further, the accountants have confirmed that Besttipping proofing procedures are in line with the CAP Help Note on Betting Tipsters.
CAP is the industry facing sister organisation of the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA). CAP writes and administers the Code that advertisers (in this case Tipsters) need to comply with and to respond to, consumer complaints about advertisements that fall within the Code's terms of reference. Besttipping sought advice from CAP when setting procedures for their proofing service and have agreed and put in place a number of procedures in accordance with the CAP Help Note and guidelines for Betting Tipsters.
