PJA Flat hit form at the right time

2012-05-26

With the Flat season now in full swing, PJA Flat have hit a rich vein of form which has yielded a 50 point profit over the four week period ending on 26 May. This period also saw strong performances from Bookies Enemy and CD Systems, while Gorrie UK continued to find the winners.

Five of PJA Flat’s many winners this month were advised at double-figure prices with the roll of honour headed by two Newmarket victors: Knowe Head (16/1, 17 May) and Ithoughtitwasover (15/1, 6 May). Imperial Djay (12/1, Chester, 26 May), Ree’s Rascal (11/1, Newbury 26 May) and Wiseman’s Diamond (10/1, Pontefract, 2 May) completed the haul of winners priced at 10/1 or more. Other winning tips came in at 9/1, 8/1, 7/1 (twice) and 15/2.

Last month’s table-toppers, Bookies Enemy, were again at the peak of their game, finishing runners-up in this month’s besttipping table. The profit was 32.3 points, helped along by the 13/2 victory of the Donald McCain-trained Red Merlin in the Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle (ex-Swinton Hurdle) at Haydock in 12 May. There was also a winning double at the Chester May Meeting, courtesy of Memphis Tennessee and Ballesteros and successful tips the following week at York, Newmarket and Uttoxeter. There were also five tips that finished second suggesting that, with a bit more good fortune, a good month could easily have been transformed into a great one.

Third this time around came Steve Jones Daily Bargain (CD Systems), who registered his tenth winning month in the last twelve months. During this period he finished top of the table twice, second twice and third on three occasions.

The month began sensationally with three successive winning naps, a run kick-started by the Ludlow success of Pericoloso. Although returned at 15/8, Jones had alerted his subscribers to Ladbroke’s ultra-generous 12/1 offer. As Jones sends his tips out the evening before racing, there is always an opportunity to take the early price, frequently, as on this occasion, to his subscribers’ considerable advantage. Jones found another 12/1 winner, Licence To Till, who was backed down to 3/1 prior to winning at Haydock on 12 May.

Gorrie UK’s 8.4 point profit included three handsomely priced winning tips: 11/1 Global Village, successful at Ascot on 12 May, Green Howard (8/1, Catterick, 8 May) and Fury (6/1, York 17 May).

Bathwick Man (14/1, Towcester, 22 May), Marchand D’Argent (11/1 Bangor, 4 May) and Native Gallery (11/1, Aintree, 18 May) helped to guide PJA National Hunt to profit again this month, while Personal Info and Richard Dunwoody also ended the review period in profit.
