Magnificent Mark Your Card secure third Besttipping title

Isiris’ Mark Your Card are the 2016 Besttipping champions. This will come as no surprise as they held a huge lead coming into December. And, although they added only a modest 8.1 points to the overall profit, there were to be no last-minute upsets. A final 2016 tally of 283.8 points gave MYC a huge margin of victory over Middleton, who finished 2016 with a mightily impressive profit of 100.2 points.

Those2oppose improved on last year’s fourth to claim third position this time, with Steve Jones’ Probets fourth. First Favourite and Personal Info’s Saturday-Only service occupied the next two positions in the table.

Since joining Besttipping, midway through 2014, Mark Your Card’s domination has been total. They swept to victory in their debut year with a 600-point advantage over their nearest rival. Last year’s margin of victory was an unbelievable 782.2 points. Whilst this year’s returns were not on the same scale as 2014 and ’15, MYC still posted big profits on a regular basis in what was generally a testing year. Of the 12 monthly crowns this year, MYC claimed six, including the best monthly gain of the year – 98.3 points in March. The also claimed two seconds and two third places and only once did they fail to deliver a monthly profit.

It says a lot of Middleton Racing Services that they not only gave MYC a serious run for the money for much of the year, but also, that for a two-month period from the end of March, they headed the table. A final 2016 profit of more than 100 points is a fantastic achievement; in 2013 Isiris won the title with a smaller profit, as did PJA Flat back in 2009.

On nine occasions during 2016, Middleton finished in the first three in the monthly listings, finishing top twice. Profits were amassed in nine out of 12 months which means that since joining Besttipping, a 71% strike-rate for monthly profits has been achieved. Middleton also headed the 2016 list for bets settled to starting price with a 22.6- point yield

The story of Those2oppose’s year is one of steady growth: no monthly top places but eight profitable months out of twelve and a 2016 profit of 26.1 points. Since joining Besttipping at the start of 2013, Those2oppose have made stealthy progress; in all have posted a profit of almost 200 points.

Steve Jones Daily Bargain experienced a frustrating year, but Jones’ other service, Probets, ended 2016 in great shape, posting a table-topping 14.6 points in December. This helped push Probets into fourth place in the 2016 table, the highest end-of-year position this particular service has managed.

Last year, First Favourite became the first service to go through a year without posting a monthly loss. This year saw four monthly losses but an overall profit of 9.9 points (gained from a strike-rate of 56%) still gave followers plenty to smile about. Long-term subscribers to the service have enjoyed a tremendous run, with a 78% strike-rate for monthly profits over a three-year period.

Eight months of profit helped Personal Info’s Saturday Only service to an annual profit of 9.5 points, the third successive year of profitable returns.

Six winners from the last 12 selections of 2016 guided Personal Info into a good position to start the new year, while the volatile Isiris – two monthly crowns, but only four other profitable months – ended 2016 with a modest loss.
