Jones pushes PJA Flat all the way

2011-10-30

For the fifth time in the last seven months, PJA’s Flat service finished top of the Besttipping list. This month’s gain was 26.5 points, which was enough to secure a narrow victory over Steve Jones’ Daily Bargain. Jones hit a hot spell during the warmest October for years, finishing with a 26 point yield.

The strong showing by PJA Flat means that, with just two months to go, they have a huge 100 point advantage over PJA All Weather in the 2011 Besttipping challenge, with Personal Info in third place.

As we have come to expect from the PJA services, monster-sized winners were in abundance. Pride of place belongs to the Halling filly, Blazing Field, a 16/1 recommendation before her victory at Bath on 17 October. Clockmaker was advised at 14/1 prior to his Catterick success on 25 October, while Brigadoon (12/1, 17 October, Pontefract), Croeso Mawr (12/1, 18 October, Yarmouth), Funky Munky (10/1, 29 October, Ayr) and Area Fifty One (9/1, 5 October, Nottingham) all received the PJA Flat seal of approval.

Despite the majority of Steve Jones’ selections starting at 8/1 or greater, he boasted a near 22% strike-rate for the four-week period ending on Saturday 30 October. His five winners during this time ranged in price from 8/1 to 11/1.  A further six selections finished second (at prices ranging from 5/1 to 12/1) suggesting that, with a little good fortune, what was a very strong month, could easily have become a truly spectacular one.

Gamblers Reunited enjoyed a profitable day on 15 October, with Ascot victor Deacon Blues (3/1) supplementing the earlier Cheltenham success of 5/1 shot Ongenstown Lad. These wins helped secure an 8 point profit, and third place in this month’s list.

The October sun also shone on Insideoutracing whose successes included 9/1 Uppercut (24 October, Leicester). Ireland proved a happy hunting ground with Tugboat (5/1, 5 October, Navan), Point The Toes (5/1, 6 October, Tramore) and Kakagh (7/1, 27 October, Clonmel) all helping to swell the coffers.

The highlight of yet another profitable month by Personal Info was the victory of Style And Panache in a Nottingham sprint under Silvestre De Sousa. The filly was advised at a juicy 16/1. Over the last four years (48 months), Personal Info have posted a profit on a staggering 40 occasions.

The Ostler’s Racing Club were also in the black this month with Sirius Prospect bringing home the bacon following his 8/1 Coral Sprint Trophy victory at York.

With the Flat season now drawing to a close, there is little opportunity for PJA Flat to add to their already impressive 2011 tally. So, can PJA All Weather and Personal Info make inroads into the leader’s seemingly impregnable position in the last weeks of the year? We will soon find out.

Great Graphs and Functionality Sign up for free to Besttipping.

Besttipping receive selections from all the tipsters well before the start time of the event. These selections (the same ones they are sending out to their regular subscribers) are later settled against the day's results and entered into the Besttipping database. The result is that we are able to display a complete and accurate (and above all, independently verifiable!) record of how each service is performing over a period of time.

Many tipsters claim impressive track records and in some cases, these results are undoubtedly true. Claims though, are very easy to make and without proper policing and easily understandable analysis it is difficult for the potential customer to subscribe with any real confidence. Besttipping is the only 'Professional' service and is unique in that it offers for free the chance for you to:

  • View results graphically
  • View results by level flat stake (£10, £50 or £100 you decide)
  • View results by points (if the tipster uses this system)
  • View total win value and percentage of winners
  • View results over different periods e.g. 30 days, 90 days, year to date
  • Monitors laying as well as backing services

The importance of long-term subscriptions.

Looking back over the performances of our tipsters since we started collecting data in October 2005, what strikes me most is the incredible consistency shown by the top performers. Not only are the same names who were at the top of our tables in December still at the top, but the amount of profit shown to their clients has increased steadily.

This is not to say though that they will never have negative weeks or even months. In fact they ALL have, and will no doubt have more in the future. The important thing to appreciate when deciding to subscribe to a service is that it has to be a long term investment to be worthwhile. It is true that you may subscribe for a month and be lucky enough to show a huge return, but the consistent and reliable returns are shown over time.

Besttipping is there to identify how tipsters have performed in the past so that you can gauge how they might perform in the future. Having chosen the service you feel offers the best long term value, make a long term commitment and decide on a stake amount which does not overstretch you during the losing periods, while at the same time makes the subscription fee worthwhile.

Best of Luck!!
