Better than alright - IOR storm to top of table

2012-02-25

Insideoutracing headed the Besttipping table in February, returning an extremely pleasing 31.8 profit for the four-week period under review. Their February forays across the Irish Sea proved especially lucrative. Rocky’s Pride, a winning 15/2 advice at Dundalk on 10 February was followed, six days later, by Betterthanalright, who was recommended at 20/1 prior to his five length victory in a Clonmel maiden hurdle.

PJA All Weather, who headed last month’s table, consolidated their position at the top of the 2012 table, with another excellent month – their eighth profitable month in the last twelve. Warbond was a confident selection (at odds of 20/1) at Kempton on 15 February. The Michael Madgwick-trained gelding duly won, as did St Ignatius, a 25/1 advice at Southwell eight days later. As well as these two spectacular successes, PJA All Weather found no fewer than nine winners in the 11/2 to 11/1 price range. It all added up to a 18.1 point profit for the four-weeks up to and including 25 February, and a total tally of 54.2 points for 2012.

Climbing one place to second in the overall 2012 table are Personal Info. They identified eight winners this month, from 14 win-only bets. This was enough to ensure another profitable month - their 44th winning month out of the last 52.

Also in the black this month were Gamblers Reunited, thanks to the success of 5/1 selection Brindisi Breeze at Haydock on 18 February.

PJA National Hunt hit the mark with Bourne, a successful 16/1 advice at Ascot on 18 February. Other winners this month included two 10/1 advices, Mac Aeda (21 February, Wetherby) and Reblis (24, February, Sandown).

Hitting form at the right moment are Gorrie UK, who scored with five of their eleven selections between 23 and 25 February. Richard Dunwoody is also enjoying a successful run; since the turn of the year 13 of Richard’s 21 selections have finished in the first two. Recent winners include 4/1 Burnhope (4 February, Lingfield) and 3/1 No Mean Trick (2 February, Southwell).

Steve Jones (CD Systems) was on the mark with Total Submission, a 14/1 advice at Wetherby on 21 February, while the highlight of the month for Bookies Enemy was a brace of winning 7/1 selections, Tenor Nivernais (20 February, Carlisle) and Bat Masterson (11 February, Naas).

We are, as any racing fan will know, less than two weeks away from the 2012 Cheltenham Festival. If we are to believe the claims of the market, no fewer than five of the meetings’ feature races – the Arkle, the Champion Hurdle, the Mares Hurdle, the Champion Chase and the World Hurdle – are foregone conclusions with favourites trading at even money or shorter. Last year, two odds-on chances ran at the meeting. Both were successful. But in the previous ten festivals, of twelve odds-on favourites, eight were turned-over. Food for thought, perhaps?

Don’t forget to look in next month to see how the Besttipping tipsters fared at jumping’s greatest meeting. January is not normally the most dynamic month of the racing season.

Great Graphs and Functionality Sign up for free to Besttipping.

Besttipping receive selections from all the tipsters well before the start time of the event. These selections (the same ones they are sending out to their regular subscribers) are later settled against the day's results and entered into the Besttipping database. The result is that we are able to display a complete and accurate (and above all, independently verifiable!) record of how each service is performing over a period of time.

Many tipsters claim impressive track records and in some cases, these results are undoubtedly true. Claims though, are very easy to make and without proper policing and easily understandable analysis it is difficult for the potential customer to subscribe with any real confidence. Besttipping is the only 'Professional' service and is unique in that it offers for free the chance for you to:

  • View results graphically
  • View results by level flat stake (£10, £50 or £100 you decide)
  • View results by points (if the tipster uses this system)
  • View total win value and percentage of winners
  • View results over different periods e.g. 30 days, 90 days, year to date
  • Monitors laying as well as backing services

The importance of long-term subscriptions.

Looking back over the performances of our tipsters since we started collecting data in October 2005, what strikes me most is the incredible consistency shown by the top performers. Not only are the same names who were at the top of our tables in December still at the top, but the amount of profit shown to their clients has increased steadily.

This is not to say though that they will never have negative weeks or even months. In fact they ALL have, and will no doubt have more in the future. The important thing to appreciate when deciding to subscribe to a service is that it has to be a long term investment to be worthwhile. It is true that you may subscribe for a month and be lucky enough to show a huge return, but the consistent and reliable returns are shown over time.

Besttipping is there to identify how tipsters have performed in the past so that you can gauge how they might perform in the future. Having chosen the service you feel offers the best long term value, make a long term commitment and decide on a stake amount which does not overstretch you during the losing periods, while at the same time makes the subscription fee worthwhile.

Best of Luck!!
